At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul

(1964)

This starts out with some clown dressed as Mandrake the Magician's unemployed cousin saying "What is life?  It is the beginning of death.  What is death?  It is the end of life."  Yeah, thanks idiot.  This guy actually turns out to be pretty hilarious though.  In one part his wife gives him some food and he gets all pissed because there's no meat (he actually says "Where's the beef?").  His wife says he can't eat meat because it's Catholic no-meat day or whatever, but he just goes "I'll get what I want and no Bible-thumper will stop me!" and eats some anyway.  Sweet.  Later he cuts some guy's finger off, whips another dude, and kills his own wife so he can be free to mack on other hos.  The chick he really wants is his best friend's girlfriend*, so he drowns the guy in the bathtub and after the funeral pops by her place for a little post-wake action.  When she won't put out, he punches her in the face and takes some anyway!  Every once is a while somebody stands up to him, but they all wind up with their eyes poked out or getting thorns shoved in their face.  Naturally the evil cat gets what's coming to him in the end, but up until then you gotta give him props: he kicks the shit out of just about everybody.  Not too shabby for someone who looks like he should be pulling rabbits out of his hat at a six-year-old's birthday party.

* "She used to be mine," he says.  (Not really.  That would've been funny though.)
