Deep Red

(1975)

This psychic is showing off her powers at some conference and says that someone in the audience is a killer. The killer isn't too happy about this, so he follows her home, chops her with an axe, and smashes her head through the window. The neighbor sees it go down, but the killer gets away. That would probably be the end of it, but then this stupid, perky, ugly reporter chick shows up and takes the neighbor's picture (did 1970s reporters really use cameras that took 110 film?) and writes in the paper that he can identify the killer, so now he has to solve the case before the killer comes after him.

Meanwhile, the killer is one step ahead and whacks everyone who might be able to help figure it out. One lady gets drowned in boiling water, another guy gets stabbed in the neck, a dude gets dragged down the street behind a truck and bashes into a bunch of curbs until a car runs over his head, and someone gets decapitated by an elevator. This movie is basically a murder mystery, but it's gory and doesn't star some Murder She Wrote old hag with a dried-up pussy, so it's actually pretty cool. They should try the same thing starring a hot chick and they'd really have something. Maybe she could solve the case by taking of her shirt.
