The Mysterious Doctor

(1943)

This doctor comes strolling into town one night, and he seems like an okay guy but World War Part 2 is going on so everybody's afraid he might be a spy or something. Some of the other people in town are a "funny" drunk,* a guy who wears a hood over his head 24/7, a retard that just wanders the streets, and a guy named "Kit" (fag), so frankly I think the doctor is the least suspicious person hanging around. Anyway, everyone in town is also totally convinced that there's this headless ghost in the local mine, but when somebody's head really does get cut off it takes them about two seconds to blame the retard instead and try to "tar & feather" him.** A hot chick helps the retard escape though, and in the end there's a bunch of big twists, about half of which make sense. Fuck it, though- a couple of dudes get decapitated, the retard gets shot a bunch of times and just keeps on coming Michael Myers style, and one guy gets impaled. Even though they hardly show any of it that's still pretty damn good for the 1940s.

*Nowadays if you have sixteen or seventeen beers and fall down the stairs everyone says you have a "problem", but back before AA and MADD and all that gay shit being drunk was almost always hilarious. That's why they call them "the good old days".

**For some reason, back in the olden days a way they used to punish someone was to pour hot tar all over them and then cover them with feathers. I don't know who the hell came up with that, or why you would go through so much trouble when it's easier to just string them up or shoot them in the face, but people didn't have TV back then so I guess they had to get their entertainment someplace. I know it's not politically correct or whatever, but I'll have to admit that if I heard a retard was going to get tarred & feathered I'd be the first one in line to see that shit.
