Everybody knows about Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, which of course rocks, but not too many people remember that they actually made a Hunter S. Thompson movie back in the 1980s, before he became a complete joke who couldn't think of anything else "gonzo" to do except make stupid noises during DVD commentaries and shoot himself in the face. Of course, part of the reason nobody remembers this movie is because it's a piece of shit. It starts with Hunter locked in a hospital room sucking down Wild Turkey and giving this hot-ass nurse drugs so she'll dance around in her bra, so it seems like it's gonna have to be awesome. Too bad that's the best part of the movie. After that he drinks a Bloody Mary in court, does pushups in public for no reason, assaults midgets, plays football in a hotel room, shoots Secret Service guys with a fire extinguisher,* and just generally tries to be zany, wacky, and madcap all at the same time. It's fucking annoying. I don't know what any of this has to do with the real Hunter S. Thompson, but before he shot himself he probably should've shot the people who made this movie. If it wasn't for the nurse there'd be no reason to watch it at all, and she never even shows us the goods.

*I would've thought they'd put you in jail for something like that, but I guess not.
