Did you know that Black Beauty is actually a boy horse? What kind of name is that for a boy? They might as well have called him "Captain Fag". Obviously I'm not privy to all the ins an outs of Black Beauty's no doubt fascinating history (yes, I'm being sarcastic), but in this show at least he lives on a farm with a doctor and his family, including, of course, a teenage girl who just loves horses. And I love her, because she's quite the looker. Hey, baby, I've got something you can ride. In this episode, some joker shows up at the farm looking for a letter of recommendation (from the doctor, not the horse), and when he doesn't get it he hypnotizes the teenage girl and convinces her that she's afraid of horses. (A trick that usually only works on "young women or girls", explains his remarkably sexist book on the subject.) Fortunately it appears that Black Beauty can understand English, because when someone discusses this nefarious/ridiculous scheme in front of him he immediately gallops off and chases down the bad guy, who, hilariously, tries to run away from him. You can't outrun a horse, idiot. That's why people ride them.
