Dracula
(Mexican Version)

(1931)

For the longest time there was this movie critic gentlemen's agreement to pretend that the original Dracula was an awesome classic, even though everyone knew it was a boring piece of crap. Folks finally got over it in the 1980s, but then they went and dredged up this alternate Mexican version (made by the same company, at the exact same time, for no discernable reason) and suddenly it's supposed to be the awesome classic. So how is it different? Well, it's half an hour longer, and the main chick is about a million times hotter, but the actors are still terrible, and there's still plenty of parts that don't make any goddamned sense at all. Like why do the good guys spend several minutes riding Dracula's crazy sidekick to tell them who his "master" is when they already know it's Dracula? And why does the guy who works at the crazyhouse cock block himself by insulting that cute maid? Seriously, what a jackass. If you want to get all technical I guess this version is a little better, but what's the point of watching a bad movie in Mexican just because it's slightly less bad than it was in English? If you've got that much spare time maybe you should consider getting a job or something.
