For Better or For Worse
Home for the Holidays

(1992)

Frankly, seeing the For Better or For Worse people come to life was a little disturbing, but at least they weren't constantly shedding dirt and dandruff like in the comic, and the first cartoon on this tape did get off to a good start with Michael saying that all women are dumb and have fat asses. Unfortunately, the actual story begins with a broken Christmas tree angel. The infinitely more fucked-up Family Circus Xmas cartoon was about a missing Christmas tree star (well, that and raising the dead); do people really get that attached to Christmas tree ornaments? At any rate, later Elizabeth gets a concussion and meets this deranged old woman who teaches her a valuable lesson that I didn't quite catch because the sound is so shitty that you can't understand a goddamn thing she's saying. I think she told Elizabeth to stay outta Compton and then compared her to a sandwich.

The second episode is about Halloween, and it's way more entertaining. This time everyone goes to a fall carnival, where they gamble and steal. Also Michael almost gets into a brawl and the family dog goes apeshit and trashes the place. (Fucking Pattersons. You can't take them anywhere.) We also learn that Michael listens to a band called "Dead Yuppie" and has a "no women" sign on the inside of his bedroom door. Since he's a teenager, I can only assume that this is a clue to his sexual orientation.

*Sigh* "I feel a 'very special episode' coming on."

The best part though is when Michael and his friends go trick-or-treating; instead of a costume, one of his cronies just wears a beer hat so he can walk around the neighborhood getting loaded:

Ha! I love Canadians. Even their kids are drunks.
