Malpractice

(2001)

Wow, this flick stars Laura Holt (AKA Remington Steel's girlfriend) and Andrea Zuckerman (AKA the least doable chick from Beverly Hills 90125), and it was directed by one of the Monkees. They brought in all the heavy hitters! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

The story starts when Andrea's fiancé dies during an operation (clarification: he was the one being operated on). She decides to sue, so she goes to Laura, who seems to be the right choice since she spends all day doing legal type stuff while upbeat, 1980s-sounding music plays. (I fully expected Kenny Loggins or Rod Stewart to break in with their latest hit single any second. It was like Legal Eagles 2 or something.) Meanwhile there's apparently some backstory, because when Laura's husband finds out that she's taking this gig he has this hilarious flashback/breakdown on the spot, and his spazmo performance is so fucking embarrassing that even the 10-year-old playing his daughter rolls her eyes. Then it gets even better (by which I mean worse, obviously): while Laura's trying to win the case, Andrea starts stalking her husband! So now it's two Lifetime Original Movies in one, both of them absurd. On the plus side Andrea has definitely improved with age and makes sure we know it, but on the minus side her newly-cultivated hotness is completely out of place seeing as the entire plot ultimately hinges on the fact that nobody wants to bone her. Honestly, Malpractice, make some fucking sense. Duh.

You should be able to file malpractice suits against moviemakers, seriously.
