A Scooby-Doo Halloween

(2002)

Scooby and Shaggy are all pumped up to see KISS, apparently unaware that well before 2002 KISS was a living joke, an endless embarrassment to rock music rivaled only by the Misfits. KISS is playing some hick burg's Halloween festival (at least that part rings true), and since this is a Scooby-Doo cartoon naturally a ghost shows up. See, it seems the guy who founded this town ended up having some beef with the place, and he vowed to come back in 100 years (people who lay down curses just love the round numbers) to bust everyone's chops. Frankly if some drip told me that he'd return in 100 years and make my descendants pay for my crimes I'd laugh right in his face. Go ahead, buddy. I don't even know those people. It's a little harder to blow off when you're on the receiving end though, so it's up to Scooby and associates to do their thing and prove it's all a load of crap. The robot scarecrows that show up are fairly neat as far as Scooby-Doo monsters go, but the story is totally by-the-numbers, and I'm not buying the whole sideplot where Daphne is all jealous of some also-ran blonde. The Fabulous Daphne Blake is way too cool for that kind of petty bullshit.

Rating: One Daphne.
