(1954)
I love it when someone in a movie tries to commit suicide, fails, and then just goes on with their day. "Welp, that didn't work!" See, that's your problem. You give up too easy. The chippie in this movie is in for a shock though, because while she was busy not overdosing on sleeping pills they evacuated the entire city due to space robots. Everywhere Suicidal Sally looks there's nothing but still photographs of empty streets (I guess the movie camera wouldn't fit out the front door or something), but eventually she meets some more people who don't watch the news, my favorite being the main guy, who immediately chases her down and corners her in an alley. "Take it easy, I'm not going to hurt you," he says, and then slaps her right across the mouth. In the 1950s, this was known as "flirting".
Speaking of hitting, my money's on Kid Hook. He's got a killer uppercut. Meanwhile, some scientists are experimenting with a disabled differently-abled robot they found laying by the side of the road (seriously), and they just had a breakthrough. "So that's what makes 'em tick- electronics!" says the general in charge. They're fucking robots, idiot, what did you think made them work? Candy? Or maybe he thought they'd find a midget inside, operating it with a bunch of pulleys and levers. Seriously, who hired this guy? Some more boring, lazy shit happens, but when it's all said and done this is basically the exact same movie as The Earth Dies Screaming, minus the cool name. And since the cool name is the only thing The Earth Dies Screaming has going for it, you can imagine how much this pile sucks.
